Life in the City Bus

Standing at two or more bus stops
waiting minutes to hours for the right bus
seeking a seat near the window
finally finding a place at least to stand
passing the fare through the hands to buy the ticket
hoping for the same to return before the stop comes
fighting for the space for the comfort
Squeezing the body to sweat all out what drunken in the morning
hitting here and there when bus turns left and right
jamming in the traffic quarrels
forcing towards the exit to get down
ending up getting down at the stop far from the actual stop
walking back to the same before it's late
here it is the life in the city bus!

My Diwali Crackers

I couldn't control my excitement after seeing those crackers.  I even didn't know how it could make me happy.  That was the first time I remember to have seen the crackers.  That evening seemed so long.  I was waiting for the dusk to dawn for bursting the crackers that my father bought.  I was about 6 years old I remember.  I knew that it would make sounds.  He had bought a flower pot packet and couple of  pencil crackers.  My father hardly bought us crackers.  So, I was always excited about crackers.  The thought of bursting crackers itself woke me up so early in the morning.  Even before I brushed my teeth, I run to front of the house.  All I could see was those crackers leaving their last sparkles.  Yes, my father burst all the crackers and what left were only a few pencil crackers. I was disappointed.  And forgot that after I was my new dresses.  After some time, I went out to the street.  While ...

Man Race

It has been just a year went, everybody I see asks me this question "Does your child started speaking?" I wonder why people are in a hurry.  When I just completed my graduation, they asked me when I was going to get a job.  When I got a job, they asked me when I was going to get married.  When I finally got married, they asked me when I was going to have a baby.  They will never stop asking questions.  Are they really interested in your life?  Do they check your progress to compare with them.  Are they want us to run with others.  They mean it as settlement in life.  What after settlement? When I was studying school, I was always told to get higher ranks than our neighbors' children.  Getting a job that pays higher than your friends' or neighbors' is in the agenda.  Starting from building a house to settling our children is the way we have to live the life.     When you go off the way all the people are moving, t...

The Interview

It is the time in between the dark and light.  The clock starts alarming exactly at 5.00 am.  Amir puts his hand on the clock to stop its alarm, his hands along with clock is vibrating.  Without any second thought he wakes up in a hurry just to avoid the sleeping mood unless he will fell asleep again as he does every day.  He opens the doors of window outside.  The street lights are still blinking, the sun rays are yet to come, few dogs are sleeping on the road platform, and he can hear the sounds of cuckoos.  Without passing any more time, he is to get ready for the day soon. Dressed up in the black pant and blue shirt Amir finishes the breakfast as fast as the time is running out for the interview.  This is the first interview call he receives after many months.  He has to get this job desperately as no more money left in his pocket.  He has to pay off the rent and other expenses as he stays alone in the city and it is becoming costli...
